Easy like a Sunday morning?
Sundays @ Polished.
Sunday is traditionally a day of rest and relaxation – but often in this busy world it’s also a day that we ladies like to pamper ourselves (for a limited time only – let’s face it, you don’t want it taking too much of the final moments of your weekend!). Then why is it often so hard to find a beautician open? We wanted to remind you our beloved Polished Princesses that Polished is open 7 days a week, and on Sundays, it’s our pleasure to polish you in the timely fashion you are accustomed to.
So if you have a spare hour, why not pop in for an overhaul?
You can have: A blow-dry, mini facial, spray tan & shape & shine in 60 minutes flat.
Did someone say hallelujah?

The Beauty Files: CND Shellac
This week on The Beauty Files, we thought we’d share an article on CND Shellac that’s available in store at Polished.
Basically, for those who haven’t tried it yet, yes it’s a little more expensive than your average manicure… but it lasts for 2 weeks, and doesn’t chip! Read more about it below.
What is it?
The most talked-about innovation in the nail industry in years, CND Shellac is a fusion of nail enamel and gel. The result? A thin, smudge-proof nail coating with the longevity of a gel and zero dry-time, available in 30 shades.
What is the process?
A base coat, two coats of colour and a top coat are applied like a normal manicure. In between each coat, you slide your hand (or foot) under a UV lamp for the polish to “cure” for 10 seconds after the base coat and two minutes after each subsequent coat. You can then rustle around in your bag to get your wallet and keys and still have perfect nails. No kidding.
Who is it good for?
Anyone who is tired of investing dollars and time in a manicure and then not even making it out the salon door without a scuff. My manicure was subjected to all manner of domestic rigour and lasted with a high-shine, dint-free finish for nearly two weeks. Consider a pedicure if you’re planning a holiday that involves sand and surf – it will resist the elements longer. It also helps to strengthen weak nails.
How do you get it off?
Salon removal using Shellac Remover Wraps is recommended. It takes 10 minutes and there’s no soaking, drilling or filing involved. For a DIY version, apply acetone-soaked cotton balls to nails and wrap in foil for 10 minutes.
How much does it cost?
About $30-$40 on top of your regular manicure. Removal is about $20.
Where to find it?
At Polished.
The “fresh” factor?
Ah, the pre-Christmas period or “party season” as it’s often called, is upon us once more. There is no doubt that it’s an amazing time of year, because you can practically feel the fun that is well and truly in the air. However, there is also another factor that comes strutting along with it…
Fatigue.
So just how do you keep yourself looking fresh in the middle of late nights, family functions, shopping and let’s be honest… alcohol (late nights and parties often include champagne).
Facials: Keeping your skin hydrated is key. Facials are quite simply a great way to do it. The A-Zyme Peel or the Vitamin 30 are, for example, great ways to have plump, hydrated looking skin… when the party went on too long.
Water: It’s free, and it’s a girl’s best friend when it comes to looking great.
Shellac: Again, it’s the wonder nail treatment that keeps your nails “chip” free for up to three weeks, so you can focus on other things.
Spray tans: When all else fails, and you have dark-circles. a spray tan is a great way to cheat a healthy glow.
Sleep: Last, but certainly not least, making sure the party doesn’t go on too long is always the best way to look “fresh” quite literally…
But quite often… fun just seems to get in the way.

Remedial Massage
To celebrate the introduction of Remedial Massage to Polished…. We chatted to our our new Masseuse!
Who are you? “My name is Iain Gardiner and I am going to be the new masseuse at Polished Beauty Bar.”
What’s your experience? “I’ve been massaging for eight years with clients from all over the eastern suburbs, inner west and internationally.”
What types of massage do you specialise in? “Remedial Massage Therapist specialising in deep tissue and remedial massage, with extensive experience in pregnancy massage.”
What can we expect in your treatments? “I like to weave a number of types of massage and then tailor it to the individual client. You can expect to experience trigger point therapy, myofascial release, cranio-sacral therapy and reflexology. I’m also aware of how you are feeling, physically and emotionally on the day of your massage, so each massage is tailored to your mood that day.
I don’t believe that there is such a thing as ‘general stress’ with muscles. All stress is quite specific and therefore can needs to be addressed with each individual to be released!”
Can I claim? I’m recognised by all private health funds, so check you are covered for ‘Remedial Massage’ should you hope to claim.
